Tandjung Sari derived its name from a small temple on the beach known by that name – ‘Tandjung' meaning ‘cape' in Malay and ‘Sari', which in Sanskrit, in general, means ‘the essence'. It's literal translation being the stem of a flower. We adopted for translation: ‘ Cape of Flowers '.
A precious original Tandjung Sari hotel opened in 1962 as a four-bungalow extension to the family home of Wija Wawo-Runtu.
The scale of Tandjung Sari has purposely been kept small and today the hotel is a 26 bungalow holiday retreat steeped in old world charm unparalleled and unrivalled by other hotels. Set amidst lush gardens on the Sanur beachfront, overlooking the Indian Ocean , the individual bungalows have evolved from traditional Balinese architecture, construction techniques and materials.

The layout of the grounds, with its winding, rambling pathways, gives the hotel a relaxed and leisurely feel. The alang-alang thatched roofs, the red brickwork and the warm browns of the woodwork blend in with the greens of the landscaping to create an exotic visual image which is accompanied by the ever-present sound of waves lapping the shore.

From the moment the ceremonial “gong” is struck to herald one's arrival, the guest of Tandjung Sari enters a tranquil haven, watched over by discreet Indonesian staff dedicated to ensuring the comfort of those who stay here.
Fine authentic Indonesian cuisine and the sunny courtesy of Balinese service at the hotel 's beach-side restaurant and bar are becoming part of the Tandjung Sari experience. The Bar edges onto the white sand of Sanur beach, offering sweeping views across the ocean and Mount Agung. The Library includes a selection of English, French, German, Dutch and Japanese literature, board games and comfortable seating area. Those who wish to venture beyond their private domain can enjoy our 50-foot lap pool, surrounded by the open-air restaurant, bar, library, and beach front.
Every bungalow is as individual and special as the resident themselves. Each Balinese-style unit has its own private garden, with some offering the sensual freedom of an outdoor shower, large balcony or a bale. The two-storey beach bungalows offer breathtaking views of the ocean. All provide modern conveniences including air-conditioning, indoor bath & shower, telephones with International Direct Dialing facilities and a mini-bar.
